If you want a trip that truly immerses you in the Arctic magic of Reisadalen, with an exhilarating hike and a riverboat trip exploring Norway’s most spectacular river valley, this is exactly the trip that you are looking for!
This tour is the ultimate day trip to experience the highlights of Reisa National Park in one day. The further upstream into the National Park we travel by riverboat, the more remarkable the scenery becomes. Here you can experience up close the soaring river canyon, with steep mountain sides, spectacular waterfalls, wonderful wildlife and green lush meadows garlanded with wildflowers. This trip can provide memories to last a lifetime.
We pass well-known local landmarks such as Sieimma kongen (Big Pine), ancient rock carvings and paintings, and the jaw dropping Mollisfossen waterfall. Depending on our schedule, we are often able to set aside time for a stop at many of these sights. We disembark the boat at Nausti and the continue our upstream journey to Imofossen on foot. The hike takes about 1.5 hours at a leisurely pace. The walk is an experience in itself with mildly challenging terrain on a well-maintained and perfectly safe hiking trail. Arriving at Imofossen, we enjoy the sight and experience of the magnificent waterfalls that tumble into the plungepool below. Our guides prepare a campfire, an we make coffee and eat food to fortify ourselves for the return journey. before starting on our way back to the boat. On the trip down the river, we set aside time for an unforgettable stop at the mighty Mollisfossen, which is a short walk from the river.
This trip has a minimum price of NOK 5,700. If you are an adult and one child traveling alone, all must be booked as adults.
Note that in the rare event of dramatic changes in water levels caused by occasional heavy rainfall, the tour may have to be rebooked or canceled at short notice.
We start the exciting riverboat trip into the Reisa National Park at “Dronningstøa”, which is located past the Saraelv, at the very end of the road in Reisadalen. Here you will also find “Ovi Raishiin” – the Visitor Information Point in Reisadalen, which is a recommended experience before or after the river boat trip.
At the start of the tour in Saraelv (departure river boat) and at the start of the walk in Nausti, there is an outdoor toilet that can be used. The hike to Imofossen requires reasonable physical fitness and good stout walking shoes. There is a communal campfire at Imofossen. You can bring your own packed lunches and can grill your own food such as sausages or burgers. Alternatively, food can also be pre-ordered from us and this will be served at Imofossen.
We strongly recommend that you wear warm and windproof clothes on the riverboat, and good walking shoes are recommended. A hat with a mosquito net and some mosquito repellent can also come in handy if your trip is undertaken during the mosquito season.
It is also a good idea to bring a hat and gloves/mitts.
Life jackets and rain ponchos are of course included. Before departure, there is also a mandatory security review.
